Donations to the Academic Success Center at the U.S. Air Force Academy directly support and elevate cadets’ academic experiences. Contributions to the center are used to facilitate workshops and increase the number of group and individual cadet consultation sessions. Larger donations help expand evening support hours, allowing cadets additional opportunities to visit the center outside their busy morning and afternoon schedules.
Quantitative Reasoning Center
The Quantitative Reasoning Center helps cadets overcome challenges and fine-tune their academic performance in STEM courses through individual extra instruction and targeted small group sessions. QRC faculty also design and deliver customized small group sessions and workshops focused on specific STEM topics to improve quantitative literacy. These small group meetings offer cadets an extra opportunity to participate in targeted STEM discussions.
Writing Center
The Writing Center assists cadets at any stage in the writing process: brainstorming, researching, outlining, drafting and editing. Faculty help cadets hone their writing skills by offering one-on-one sessions, shut-up-and-write events, and topic-specific workshops. Cadets learn to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, including appropriate evidence, grammar, organization, rhetorical situation, syntax, tone and transitions.
Public Speaking Lab
Public speaking specialists help cadets refine and improve academic presentations in the classroom, leadership speeches in the Cadet Wing and interview preparation for graduate studies and scholarship. The lab’s staff can record practice sessions and provide feedback on all aspects of public speaking. The PSL helps cadets connect to their audience, present with poise and communicate effectively.
